It's Tomato Planting Season!

It’s that time of year on my Dad and brothers’ farm in Yolo (You Only Live Once) County. Planting takes six weeks and the small plants are actually placed in the soil by workers that sit on the tomato planter. In four months the six inch plants grow into three foot vines covered in organic tomatoes, which are delivered to the cannery to make tomato juice, tomato soup, tomato sauce and canned whole tomatoes. Did you know that farmers in California grow 90% of many fruits and vegetables that feed the people living in the U.S?
